Pretty Vignette ~ Pink Saturday!

Pretty Vignette

We recently remodeled our living room and dining room.
There was a small 3 1/2 foot space that I never knew quite what to do with.....  so, my husband decided to build a pantry.  Above the pantry he built a nook so I could display my vintage china.
He trimmed it out with fabulous molding and installed an art light at the top.
I like to change the display with the seasons and holidays.
I collect antique and vintage tea pots (with roses).
I created a pretty vignette using a few of my favorites.

Sweet Peas ~ Show and Tell Friday

Antique Sweet Pea Painting
with "Friendship" Poem

I love these old prints!  They are so beautiful.
I love the artwork and how the paper turns yellow with age.
I tend to collect floral examples.....  especially those with roses.
This one is rather special.  It has pretty Sweet Pea's and a lovely friendship poem.  It's signed "P. A. Cornell" and has it's original gilt frame.  So sweet.

"True friendship increases ~
as lifes end approaches.
Just as the shadows lengthen ~
with the suns setting"

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

An Angel in my Garden ~ Cottage Garden Party

An Angel in my Garden

I love my gardens!
I love to garden and find it very relaxing.  I go outside at the crack of dawn and walk around....  the dew still on the grass in the cool of the early morning.
I have the most wonderful hubby!  He is my hero.
Together we are a great team and have created a very lovely home.
Although he doesn't enjoy gardening as much as I do (planting, pruning & pulling weeds) he is obsessed with the grass.  He keeps our lawn like a golf course.
We have an area under a big tree in our front yard where the grass doesn't thrive like it should.  It gives my hubby fits.  So.... I decided to landscape it.  I sent my husband to Home Depot for decorative rock and he not only comes back with what he went for..... but, he came home baring gifts!
A Birdbath and a Garden Angel!
It was the perfect size for the small area I had to work with.
I planted a sea of ivy under the big tree then placed a weathered bench and a lovely garden statue under it.
Enjoy!
Happy gardening!

Pretty Pieces ~ White Wednesday

I've been meaning to share some of my mosaic art projects with you.
The pink tray in the first set of pictures was an old tole tray I purchased at a garage sale for $1 along with a shabby pink plate that had a few chips.
LOL!  I never feel guilty painting or breaking damaged pieces.
I don't like the standard color of grout...... so, I tinted it...... PINK!!

There is a story behind the Blue Willow tea pot.
I bought four cups and saucers for my mother for Mother's Day.
When I got them home I discovered the handle was broken on one of the cups and found
a crack in one of the saucers.
What to do???
I wanted to give her a "Set" so, I decided to take the broken cup and saucer and mosaic a silver tea pot.
Then she would have a pretty "Tea Set".
She loves blue and white and loves my mosaic art pieces.
It turned out to be the perfect (imperfect) gift!
Love you, Mom!

I sell or give away most of my work but I do have several more that I will be sharing.
Hope you have enjoyed the photos.

Pink Lace & Velvet Posies ~ 1930's Charm

1930's Pink Lace Dress
with
Velvet Posies

I am fasinated with the 1920's, 30's and 40's.  A time when things were grand and elegant.
I love the beautiful dresses, millinery hats and costume jewelry from this era.
I've been collecting these lovely dresses for several years.
I love them all..... but, try to stay within a pastel shabby chic pallet.
I am, of course, drawn to the pink ones.... but, do have several creamy white, mint green,
pale blue and soft lavendar ones, too.
I recently picked up this beauty at my favorite antiques shop "The White Rabbit".
It is made of pink lace with a pink satin lining.
I just love the neckline!  How it drapes over the shoulders and is accented with
the sweetest pink velvet posies.
I imagine the lady that wore this dress..... happily walking along..... on a bright sunny day.....
wearing a big pink hat!
and.... I only wish I could be there, too.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.
Enjoy!

All that sparkles! ~ White Wednesday

Rhinestones are a girls best friend!
I love bling!  The more..... the better!
I have an extensive collection of vintage tiaras and crowns.
These beauties add a little sparkle to my life.
I love it in the morning when the sun shines through the lace curtains and the light dances off the rhinestones.  It's almost magical.
These are just a few of my favorites.
