In Need of Prayer - for my Fur Baby

Meet.....  Sir Archibald - "Archie" - my 8 yr old Boxer
 Isn't he beautiful!!
 Oh...  what a face!
 Begging for his favorite treat
    Shaking his daddy's hand
 Getting a bath!  What fun!
Looks like daddy took a bath, too!
 LOL!  Wearing his bath towel.
 Home from the Vet
Biopsy
Taking a much needed rest after his visit to the vet

I rarely blog about anything personal.....  but, today is an exception.
It's been a rough morning.  I received the dreaded news.....  cancer.
Meet Sir Archibald....  aka "Archie".
He is my sweet 8 1/2 year old Boxer pup. He's the light of my life.... my pride and joy.
Last Friday I noticed a lump on his leg.  He wasn't in pain but I knew it should be checked right away.  He just had his routine six month check up and shots two weeks ago and the vet didn't notice it!  Anyway, his appointment was this morning.  He has a mast cell tumor and the biopsy came back with abnormal cells....  possible cancer.  He has surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning to remove the tumor and for another biopsy.
I know lots of you have and love your fur babies.  I am no exception.  I love Archie so much.  We've had him since he was six weeks old and I can't bare the thought of him being sick or losing him.
Most of life's problems can be fixed but sometimes we are powerless.  We must rely on our faith.  I believe in God's miracles and in the power of prayer.....  and today I am asking for your prayers.....
that God will bless and heal my beloved Archie.

Many thanks.
Be well and may God bless.
Elizabeth

Hello.
I wanted to take a minute to post an update.
Archie had surgery yesterday and is home now. He's in a lot of pain but doing as expected.
The good news is the surgery went well... the bad news is they found and removed a second tumor. The one on his leg and one on his back. Poor baby... he has been through the ringer.
Tears. It is so hard to see him like this.
I just wanted to take a minute to thank you for your prayers and kind words of support. It means so much.
I will update again once the results from the biopsy come back... approx 14 days.
Thank you, once again.
May God bless.

Handmade Easter Eggs & DIY Wreath

 DIY Easter Egg Wreath

Easter is soon approaching and one of my favorite holidays.
I wanted a new wreath for my front door.
Something different, unique and of course....  handmade.  I decided on a shabby chic meets burlap look.  I love the natural look of burlap but can't resist adding roses, lace and pearls to the mix.

The first step was to prepare the eggs.
I painted paper mache eggs in different shades of blue and let them dry overnight.  I used Americana Decor Chalk Finish paint found at Michaels.  Then decorated them with vintage lace, buttons, pearls and little paper flowers.
Tip:  use an empty egg carton to sit them in to dry.

The next step was to prepared the wreath.
I was elated to find a natural grapevine wreath shaped like an "egg"....  well, sort of.
I sprayed the wreath with a thin coat of clear Matte spray paint to add a bit of shine to the grapevine.  Then added chicken wire to the bottom half of the wreath to form a "basket" and filled the cavity with spanish moss (to resemble a "nest" to hold the eggs).  Using hot glue, I added the vintage lace and handmade burlap rose directly to the chicken wire..... and finished off by adding the burlap bow and decorated eggs.

I love how it came out!
It looks great on my front door.
Hope you enjoyed my Easter DIY project.

Have a wonderful week!

Happy Spring!

Happy Spring!!

Today is the first day of Spring.
What a beautiful day!  Sunny and 60 degrees.
Spring is my favorite time of year.  I get excited and feel revived after a long winter.
The birds are chirping, the squirrels are playing, the grass is greening and there is life in the garden.
All signs that Spring has sprung!!

Have a lovely weekend.

Beautiful Ladies ~ Antique German Half Dolls

 Antique German Half Dolls

I love antique German half dolls.
I first saw them in a magazine and thought they were so beautiful.  I had to have one.....  then another.....  and another.....  and still another.
I never knew there were so many versions until I started looking for them.  Half doll pin cushions, lamps, vanity boxes, pillows and hankie holders.
The two beauties in the first photo are the latest additions to my collection.  They remind me of Marie Antionette with the mohair wigs and lace dresses.  I am but a temporary custodian of such lovely things.

It was gorgeous outside this weekend!
Sunny and at least 65 degrees.  It was wonderful to work in the garden.  I was able to see tiny little buds peeking out.  Can you believe it was snowing just a few days ago?  Hope this means Spring is just around the corner.

Have a lovely week.

Beautiful Collections - Vintage Lace and Ribbonwork

Vintage Hankie Holders

I love old hankie holders.
I've been collecting them for years.
They are like potato chips......  one just isn't enough!
I especially love those made of silk with lots of lace and ribbonwork.
Today I am sharing some of my favorites.
They are so beautiful.  Pretty little works of art.
They add a feminine touch to any boudoir.

Have a lovely week!
