Happy Thanksgiving & Pretty Floral Pumpkins

Sharing some handmade pumpkins I made last year using vintage fabrics, hand dyed laces and old rhinestone jewelry.

I have so much to be thankful for.
I am so grateful and count my blessings each and every day.
I praise the Lord for all that he has given me.

Wishing everyone a happy
and safe
Thanksgiving!

Pink Princess Dress ~ Vintage Tulle

 Vintage Pink Princess Dress

Vintage tulle dresses.....  one of my favorite things in the whole world.
I absolutely love them!
I have a large collection of vintage 40's and 50's prom dresses.  All in pastel colors.  They remind me of cotton candy and sherbet ice cream.
These dresses are soooooo beautiful.  Most are hand made and one of a kind.  Frilly works of art.
This one is especially pretty.... with layers and layers of tulle ruffles, bunches of white millinery flowers and of course.....  it's Pink!
I love it and hope you do, too!

Have a lovely day!
Elizabeth

Pretty in Pink ~ First Day of Summer

Summer Wreath

This Sunday is officially the first day of summer
(and Father's Day).
I can hardly believe it's already the middle of June!
Where does the time go???  When I was a child it seemed like summer would last forever.  The days seemed long and time stood still.  Now....  it just flies by!!
I enjoy decorating and changing things out with the seasons.
One of the first things I do....  is change the wreath on the front door.
I couldn't decide on what sort of wreath I wanted.  Then....  while walking around the garden I noticed the hydrangeas and roses were in full bloom and thought they would be perfect for my new summer wreath.
Along with the silk flowers I added some burlap and a pretty pink clip- on bird.  I love the dark pink roses with the light pink hydrangeas.  The pink lace bird was the icing on the cake.
I love it!

Have a wonderful week!

A Welcoming Porch

The front porch.....
There is nothing nicer than a pretty front porch.
Growing up.... my mother always kept a beautifully decorated front porch.  White wicker furniture, vintage linens and fresh flowers that smelled so sweet.
It was a wonderful time in my life.  I remember sitting on the porch..... after a long day.... drinking pink lemonade and my dad twirling us around in these funky swivel chairs until we laughed so hard we would cry.  A lot of wonderful memories were made there.
The front porch was a special place.  Well used and well loved.
I remember when people would sit on the porch early in the morning with a cup of coffee and enjoy the morning paper, rest in the afternoon with a glass of sweet tea and gather again in the evening to share and tell stories about their day.  You could drive through town at any given time and wave at your neighbors sitting on their porches.  It was the best of times.
I have a lot of fun decorating my porches.  I have the big porch and a smaller porch with a side walkway.  I'm constantly changing and switching things out.  I freshened things up this morning.  I added a hand painted sign, an antique wrought iron plant stand I found at the flea market and some vintage linens.  And.....   finally got around to planting the window boxes.
Everything looks so "welcoming".

Wishing everyone a wonderful week!

Rain, Rain Go Away!

Rain, Rain go away!
Come again another day!

It's been raining sooooooo much here!
I feel like I need to build an arc.
I'm sure in a few weeks when it turns hot and dry I will appreciate the rain we are receiving today......  but, in the meantime.....  I have lots to keep me busy inside.
I decided to do some spring cleaning.  You know....  the tedious task of dusting "everything", cleaning under dressers and beds, changing the bedding and curtains, washing windows and cleaning ceiling fans.  As much as I hate to do it....  I feels so good when it's done.
I cleaned and re-arranged my bedroom.  Each spring I add new sachets filled with lemon verbena and lavender.  I love lemon verbena!
Everything looks so pretty and smells so wonderful.
I took pictures but it's so dark and cloudy that most of them didn't come out well.

Please keep those in Texas and Oklahoma affected by the floods in your prayers.
Have a lovely weekend!

Springtime Painting, Potting and Planting

I love Spring.
It's my favorite time of year.
Everything is new again.  The trees are budding, the grass is greening and the gardens are coming alive.
The weather has been beautiful so I was able to get some work done outside.
I love, love, love my flowers!
As much as I love my gardens....  I like to add potted plants here and there.  They add color and interest.  I chose geraniums in various shades of pink and red and added sweet potato vine and other fillers to round out the pots.  They look great.
Springtime projects.....
I took a section of old fencing and turned it into a "bud vase - sign".  I painted it white, then stencilled flowers, a watering can (at the bottom) and the word "Flowers" on it.  I then wired on several antique bottles to hold water for fresh or fake flowers.
I painted an old ice cream parlor chair black and mosaic'd the seat.  It looks wonderful along side the fence.
I painted the boy & girl statues black and my husband made me a little flower cart using an old pop crate. And last but not least....  I turned an old wheel barrel into a planter.
It's looking like Spring around here!

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Elizabeth
