Birthday Wishes ~ Southern Belle Pillowcases

 Southern Belle Pillowcases

My birthday was Saturday.
I was 29 (again!).
My mother gave me the most beautiful hand embroidered pillowcases.  What a wonderful surprise.  She is  so talented!!  Her hand work is amazing.  I love that they are "pink"!  And.....  the lace!  it's almost 5" wide.
Just gorgeous!!  I LOVE them!
Thank you..... Mom!

To celebrate my B-day......  my hubby and I spent the weekend "junk-in"!
Saturday we visited some historical towns along the Missouri river.  I love "river" towns!
I found lots of goodies!
My favorite item is an antique typewriter!  It still works perfectly!  I have wanted one for a while but couldn't find one that worked or that I could afford.  This one was a steel at only $25!  Antique typewriters are so beautiful!  I love the painted designs and labels.
Sunday we visited several local shops.  I have lots of wonderful treasures to share the few couple of weeks.
So.....  stay tuned.

Have a wonderful week!
Elizabeth

La Petite Marquise.... Love Fauve - Vintage Litho

Vintage Artist Print - Signed

Another wonderful Etsy find!
From a wonderful shop called My Magic Moon.
Kim @ My Magic Moon is such a delight to work with!

A fabulous vintage litho/print with an original artist signature.

"La Petite Marquise....Love Fauve" by Italian artist Armando Angelo Gentilini.
A style reminiscent of the old masters.
Contemporary French.
An exquisite young girl with her pompadour white locks......tying the delicate pink ribbon on her beautiful white under garment.
She reminds me of a very young "Marie Antoinette".
The artist flawlessly captured the simplicity of her beauty and expression .
It includes the original artist signature at the bottom left corner.........  dated 1966.

HAPPY PINK SATURDAY!

Vintage Pillows

Now that the holidays are over....  it's time to take down and put away the holiday decorations....  and return to normal.
I was arranging the pillows on the sofas and decided......  next to the fancy French blue pillow.... that I shared in my last post.... the others looked so plain.  They needed a little "something".
.I made a New Year's resolution to complete at least one new project a week.
This weeks project......  "handmade lace flowers".
Now my pillows are "shabbilicious"!
A a little embellishment can go a long, long way.

Happy Pink Saturday!!

French Blue ~ Satin and Lace

"Before"

I can hardly believe it's 2013!
Like most.....   I've made a few resolutions for the new year.
I've set a goal to complete at least one project "from my many lists" each week.  I have so many things I want to do!
I bought this lovely vintage satin pillow on Etsy (from Vanna's Armoire) right before Christmas.  I opened the box and and as wonderful as it was in it's original condition...  it needed some work.  So.....  as usual.....  I set it aside and didn't think about it for a few days.
I was looking through some of my favorite magazines for inspiration and thought "how do these women get so much done....  with work, family, cooking, cleaning, etc"? I decided.... if they can.... I can, too!  Hence my New Years resolution.
This satin pillow was my first project.
I used scraps of satin fabric, bits of vintage lace and an old crocheted doily to create the large rose.  I repositioned the original blue bow and added a vintage rhinestone earring to the center.  I love how it turned out.  It was the jewel on my sofa through the holidays.

May 2013 be the best ever!
Cheers!
Elizabeth
