I can hardly believe another year has passed........  where does the time go?
This time of year is for reflection.  I am thankful for my family, my health and my many blessings.

While re-arranging one of the bedrooms I found an old hat box tucked away under the bed.  I hadn't had it out in a long time and had forgotten what was inside.  What a nice surprise.....  it was full of old photos, cards and tid bits from the past.  Pictures of the kids when they were little, black and whites photos of my parents (gosh! they were young), pictures of my wedding day and cards my husband and family have given me over the years.  A box full of wonderful memories.

I found several more boxes full of things I've collected over the years.  All wrapped in tissue paper and packed away so carefully.  I am quite the collector.  I love old things!  and I love Pink!
My style is very feminine.  I love old lace, ruffles, ribbonwork, tulle and millinery flowers.
I have such fun shopping the flea markets and antique shops.  I found some lovely things this year.......  and thought I would share some of my favorites.

Happy Holidays and many blessings!
Elizabeth

Vanity Affair ~ Bedroom Update

I can hardly believe it's fall already.
The leaves are falling and it's cold and cloudy outside.
It's time to add some fall and winter touches to my bedroom.
Even in winter I like to keep things bright and airy.  Rather than use orange and brown in the fall and red in the winter....  I prefer pink and white.  After Thanksgiving....  I will add my pink Christmas tree to the mix.
I started with the window treatments.  I changed out the white cotton panels for vintage white sheers.  They are so pretty with roses, ribbons and swags.  They add a shabby - Victorian flair to the room.
I love this cute little 50's vanity!  I love the antique gold decoration and little rhinestones.  The middle part lifts up and has a vanity mirror inside.  I store my collection of vintage crowns and tiaras inside.
I love my vintage Fashion Tres mannequin head!  Once a store display piece......  I now use her to display my vintage hats and jewelry.  I dressed her in a vintage fur hat with a large rhinestone clip and winter white pearls.  Her choker is actually a vintage pearl bracelet to which I added a handmade flower.
By adding a vintage vanity tray and a few pink accessories.....  I have a whole new look.
So shabby.  So feminine.
I love it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!
Elizabeth

Vintage Patina ~ Farmhouse Style Project

 Farmhouse Kitchen ~ Decoupage Project

As neat and as organized as I am......  I always seem to have this annoying pile of paperwork, bills, receipts, etc that ends up on my kitchen counter.  I love stuff but hate clutter!  Tired of looking at it.....  I needed something to contain it.
I found this wonderful old box a long time ago at a local flea market.  It was missing it's original knob but had great patina and nice old hinges.  It's been sitting in the basement ever since.  I thought it was a great piece and knew that some day I would do "something" with it.
It cleaned up nicely but was still very plain.  It needed some personality.
I decided to decoupage it!  I used pages and artwork from an old 1950's cookbook.  I love the vintage graphics and how the pages have yellowed with age.  The book was already falling apart so I didn't feel guilty about cutting it up.  I decoupaged a fabulous "measurement conversion scale" to the inside of the lid.  That will surely come in handy!
Several coats of Mod Podge, a new "old" knob and a few hours later......  I have a wonderful farmhouse style addition to my kitchen.

Have a wonderful week!
Elizabeth
