Cottage Charm ~ Sitting Pretty

Petite Boudoir Chair

I love this little chair!
It's so imperfectly.... perfect.
A $24 antique shop find.
I love the creamy white paint and the pink needlepoint seat.  So shabby chic.
I love how the paint has worn and aged over time.
When I bought it.....  I had no idea where I was going to put yet "another" chair.
It's small and just the right size for my bedroom.  It sits right next to my bed.  The perfect place for some old books and a cup of tea or maybe a pair of vintage boudoir slippers.
Serendipity!

ShabbyFuFu

Ruffles, ruffles and more ruffles!

Anyone else love these old pillows as much as I do??
I'm always on the look out for them.  The older the better.
Thought I would share a couple of my latest finds.
The light pink organza pillow is the oldest.....  from the 1930's or 40's.  It has tons of ruffles and beautiful ribbonwork roses in the center.  Absolutely gorgeous!
The raspberry pink pillow is probably early 1950's.  It's awesome!  I love the layers of pleated tulle and the pretty millinery flowers in the middle.
These are some of the best examples I have found in a while..... and both are in mint condition.  Yeah!
I usually have a favorite but this time I can't decide.  I love them both and they look so lovely together.

Enjoy!

Tiny Dancer ~ Petite Ballet Slippers

Vintage Capezio Ballet Slippers

Aren't these the cutest little ballet slippers....  ever!!
They are just darling.  They are about 6" long.
I am not sure exactly how old they are but, by the label and the way they are made....  I would say....  1950's or older.
They were originally white but have aged into the prettiest pale cream.
I added a set of old millinery flower clips to dress them up.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
Many blessings,
Liz

Prairie Farmhouse Style

Prairie Farmhouse Style

I love the new Prairie Farmhouse style.
A cross between country and shabby chic.  Simple but charming.
I needed new kitchen towels and couldn't find anything I liked.  I wanted to be able to display them and use them every day.
I found simple towels with a vintage French feel and added white cotton ruffles.
I wanted to alter them but retain the "vintage" look.  The cotton ruffles are hand torn and left un-hemmed.  I love the "raw" edges.
I made several sets.  Some for myself and some to sell.  They are available for purchase in my Etsy shop.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
Elizabeth

How does your garden grow? ~ Cottage Garden Party

 My Garden - June 2013

I love my gardens in June.
June is my favorite month of the year.
The weather is perfect.  Just enough rain and not to hot.
My gardens are filling out and most of the flowers have started to bloom.  Everything is thriving.
What a beautiful sight.

Hope you enjoyed the tour.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week!
