So Shabby Chic ~ Tile Coasters

 Shabby Chic Tile Coasters

Aren't these the prettiest coasters!
I love how they came out!
I used left over travertine tiles and waterslide decals.
They are heat set and protected with three coats of clear sealer.
I googled "how to make tile coasters" and found several tutorials.
Note:  when  using the waterslide decals.....  the "background" is the color of the tiles.
You may prefer a "solid" image....  instead of a clear image as I used here.
On the back side I used a piece of  1/8" thick "press and stick" cork.  Hand cut into a square a little smaller than the tile.  You can buy the cork in sheets at  your local crafts store.
LOL!  They are so pretty that I don't want to sit a wet glass on them.  I bought some of those white paper "bar" coasters to put under my glass so it doesn't sit directly on the tile.  Silly.... I know.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

French Lace Wings - White Wednesday

French Fairy Wings

These wings are so beautiful!
They are made from vintage lace tablecloths.
The millinery flower was from an old hat.

The rhinestone flowers are part of an old bridal sash.

It's hump day!  We are half way there.
We are expecting rain tomorrow!!!
Please everyone......  pray for Rain!!!
Almost everyone has been effected by the record heat wave.

Pink Beauty - Happy Pink Saturday!

1950's Pink Tulle Dress

My latest vintage find.  Isn't she a beauty!
I LOVE the little pink millinery flowers!
It has a gathered shelf bust and a waterfall ruffle off the hip.
It has a built in "shoulder wrap" that is connected on one side with tiny little snaps.  Maybe wrap it around the neck and let it hang down the back?
Very elegant.
Although perfect the way she is.....  I  made a pink tulle rose and added it just above the waterfall ruffle.  It was the perfect touch.  You can see the before and after.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend
and
staying COOL!

Pink Dreams ~ Show and Tell Friday

 Shabby Chic Bedroom

It's been so hot outside that I have been doing more indoors.
Finishing projects that were started and never finished.
The white antique bed in this room is very high.
(LOL!  I had to remove all the decorative pillows so you can see the bed)
I found this antique bed stool a few years ago.  It was dark brown and the wood applique was damaged.
My husband did a fabulous job repairing it.
I sanded it down and painted it a lovely shade of pink.
I bought several cans of pink paint.....  none were quite right so I added a few drops of white.  Finally the perfect shade of  pale pink!
I really intended to "use" it but it's so pretty that I can't bring myself to stand on it.  I added a lovely tray full of goodies and it looks fabulous sitting next to my bed.  Don't you love those frilly tulle bedroom slippers! and the little "lace" tray?  It looks so pretty with the antique floral rug.

Happy Friday!

Backyard Blooms ~ Cottage Garden Party

If you look close...   there is a Butterfly on the Mint bloom.
I have lots and lots of Bees and Butterflies.

Backyard Blooms

I took some of these pictures the other day and some yesterday.
It has been soooooooo hot that working in the garden has been more of a chore then relaxing.
It's been hard to keep my flowers from burning up......  even with a sprinkler system.  I don't even want to talk about the grass!
Every morning I take a stroll through the gardens.  When the dew is still on the ground.  I love the early morning blooms (before the sun has wilted them).
A few years ago my husband built me a shed / little house (it's big) in the backyard.
It's a work in progress.  I am painting and decorating the inside in my favorite shabby chic style.
It is not wired for electricity (yet) so it gets very hot out there.
When I get it all done I will share pictures.
He built the potting table off the deck.  It has a large storage area underneath where I store pots, potting soil, plant food, etc.  I painted herbs on the double doors (of which I forgot to take pic's of).
Thanks for visiting.
