The Spirit of FALL - Handmade Projects

 

 Shabby FALL Wreath

I wanted a new wreath for my front door.

Something simple and shabby.

I used bits of old tea dyed lace, hand made fabric and burlap roses and dried daisies.

I thought the little bird was a nice touch.

I managed to get several Fall projects done this weekend and will be sharing throughout the week.

Several fabric pumpkins, painted Mason jar vases, and a burlap FALL Banner are just a few.  I hope you will visit again and take a peek.

Vintage Pretties

My new favorite color is French Blue!

It's so soft and subtle.  I've been adding small touches here and there throughout my home.  It compliments the pinks and whites and adds a pop of color.

I love vintage perfume bottles.  I've been collecting for years.  I've never seen one quite like this one.
I was initially drawn to it because of the color and love that it's hand painted.  When I lifted the dauber and it still smelled....  I knew I had to have it.  I love that it has retained it's original scent.  To me.....  that's what makes it "special".
I always wonder about the original owner.  I imagine a lovely lady sitting at her dressing table...  combing her hair, pinching her cheeks and adding a bit of perfume behind each ear.  Like in an old black and white movie.

So beautiful.  So feminine.

Even though I've said......   "no more"........  "not one more"....    

I just couldn't resist!

A Rose.... is a "Rose"

A Rose by any other name....  is still a "Rose".

 I Love roses!
There is something about a rose that is simply enchanting.

They are one of God's finest creations. 

They are my favorite flower and bring me such joy.
I am stimulated and inspired by their beauty.

God sees that same beauty in each of us.

His love surrounds us.

Summers End ~ First Signs of Fall

As I walked around my gardens this morning....  I noticed the first signs of Fall.

The late Summer flowers are in full bloom and beginning to fade while the Mums are just beginning to bloom.
I've planted a variety of perennials so I have continuous blooms from the beginning of Spring through the end Fall.  Sometimes we're lucky and the Mums continue to bloom through early Winter.  Soon it will be time to cut back everything and harvest seeds.

My husband built the wishing well a few years ago.  I just re-stained it.  When I applied the stain it renewed the wood and brought out the Cedar smell again.  Yeah!  I LOVE the smell of Cedar.  Sometimes I find that people walking down the sidewalk throw pennies in it.  I hope they made a wish and that it comes true.
He made the little "cart" from an old Coca Cola crate.  I love how it turned out.  I intend to use it as a planter box.

I noticed yesterday that the Pumpkins have arrived!  Our local grocer and plant nursery have some beautiful varieties this year.  White, orange and some awesome variegated ones.  I'm off to buy some for my Fall arrangements.

The Perfect Pair ~ A Frame in a Frame

A Frame in a Frame

Don't you just love it when something just comes "together"?  

Completely by accident....  and better than if you had planned it. 

I LOVE vintage frames!  I have lots and lots of them.  Whenever I find a fabulous one.....  I pick it up even if I have no idea what I'm going to do with it.  That will come in time.

I bought this vintage print a long time ago and it needed a frame.  I wanted something special and knew someday I would find just the "right" one.  Well.... it had been several years and lots of frames later....  and I still hadn't found "the one".  

I was in the basement looking through my collection of old frames and bingo!  I had one with the "right" green and one with a lovely gold........  I put them together and they fit perfectly!  They were even the right size!!  Finally.....  my vintage print found it's perfect frame.

The outside frame is a wonderful chippy green (you can't tell because of the glare) and the center frame is a fabulous ornate gold with great patina.  Oh....  what a lovely pair!
