More is More.... my pillow addiction

The Love Seat

The large Sofa

In my house......  more is more!  I LOVE pillows!  As many as you can pile on.  LOL....  it drives my husband crazy.

I wanted to make a group of coordinating pillows for the living room.  I love pink but have painted the room a soft yellow with creamy white trim.  I had to figure out how to bring in my all time favorite color....  pink!

I didn't have any "large" pieces of  fabric so..... I decided to take a collection of smaller pieces that looked good together and see what I could do with them.  I had some pink striped ticking, a large floral print and several vintage needle point pieces.  I sewed all the pieces together and this is what I came up with.

My room wouldn't be complete without "roses"!  I had an old pink silk pillow I just love...  but.... the silk on the front was all snagged up.  I decided to take silk roses and hot glue them all over the front.  I just love it!

Oh!.....  and you might recognize the large round pillow in the first photo.....  it's Rachel Ashwell ~ Simply Shabby Chic!  It complemented the ones I made beautifully!

It's all coming together.

Living Room Make ~ Over

Living Room Make - Over

We're having a very warm and sunny Winter this year (so far).  Almost "Spring" like.  I usually don't get in the mood for Spring cleaning and freshening up until at least March.  It's usually cloudy, very cold and snowy right now.  I've taken advantage of our good fortune.  I decided to re-do the living room.  Re-paint and have my husband customize some things.  He is amazing!  He can build anything!  And believe me.....  I keep him busy.  He built the book shelf "built-ins" from scratch.  Aren't they awesome!  He replaced all the trim around the windows and doors.  He layered trim pieces to make them look larger and more expensive.  He builds it and I paint it.
He took an old brown frame I had in the basement and made it into a shelf.  I painted it a creamy cottage white and it's fabulous!  I found the antique floor lamp at the flea market for $12.  It has the cutest pink and yellow porcelain roses on the stem.  It didn't work or have a shade.  My hubby re-wired it and I made a shabby chic shade for it.  I may paint it white... but, for now it looks great.

I'm not done yet......  I'm making new pillows for the sofas and revamping an old trunk for a coffee table.  I will post more pic's in the next couple of days.

I love it so far.

Cottage White ~ Shelf Make Over

Another "trash to treasure".  I found this shelf at a garage sale over the summer.  I bought it for just a few dollars.  It was an ugly brown color.  I sanded it down and painted it a cottage white.  I decided to hang it my bedroom.  Together with vintage hand painted rose china..... it makes such lovely display.  I hung a 1920's Christening gown from the lower shelf.  It turned out so beautiful and really makes a statement.

Ribbons, Roses and Antique Lace

A turn of the century French boudoir hat.....  made with layers of lace and pale pink and blue ribbon roses

A 1910 - 20"s French boudoir hat.... trimmed in rows and rows of gathered ribbons and lace

A 1920 - 30's silk boudoir hat with net lace and tiny ribbon roses

A 1930's lace pillow with hand made ribbon flowers

A pair of 1930's silk wedding garters with bows and tiny ribbon roses

Everyone knows by now that I am a big collector.  I love antique boudoir items.  I collect antique boudoir hats, pillows and anything with ribbonwork.  These are just a few I have collected over the years and some of my favorites.  The handwork is amazing!  They are truely beautiful works of art.
