Handmade Easter Eggs & DIY Wreath

 DIY Easter Egg Wreath

Easter is soon approaching and one of my favorite holidays.
I wanted a new wreath for my front door.
Something different, unique and of course....  handmade.  I decided on a shabby chic meets burlap look.  I love the natural look of burlap but can't resist adding roses, lace and pearls to the mix.

The first step was to prepare the eggs.
I painted paper mache eggs in different shades of blue and let them dry overnight.  I used Americana Decor Chalk Finish paint found at Michaels.  Then decorated them with vintage lace, buttons, pearls and little paper flowers.
Tip:  use an empty egg carton to sit them in to dry.

The next step was to prepared the wreath.
I was elated to find a natural grapevine wreath shaped like an "egg"....  well, sort of.
I sprayed the wreath with a thin coat of clear Matte spray paint to add a bit of shine to the grapevine.  Then added chicken wire to the bottom half of the wreath to form a "basket" and filled the cavity with spanish moss (to resemble a "nest" to hold the eggs).  Using hot glue, I added the vintage lace and handmade burlap rose directly to the chicken wire..... and finished off by adding the burlap bow and decorated eggs.

I love how it came out!
It looks great on my front door.
Hope you enjoyed my Easter DIY project.

Have a wonderful week!
Elizabeth
